Prada is not as well known as some of the other fashion designers, such as Gucci and Dior. But the company was originally founded over 90 years ago in Italy. But it was in the late 70s when it actually started developing into a large fashion design house.

Miuccia Prada inherited the leather bag store started by her granddaughter, and immediately started modernizing the company. Her stress of plain, ordinary design was praised by the public in the 80s, who were tired of the loud, gaudy (and often more expensive) counterparts of other luxury fashions.

The Prada design in apparel is looked at as relaxing and unmodified, yet elegant, which gives it a luxurious taste all its own. Of course, Prada's competitors sub their noses at this common, no-nonsense approach. Jokes have been made about the Prada design and mentality. But then again, Prada is very proud to have their style of shoes worn by the Pope!

In their sunglasses, Prada strives for the highest degree of quality and design. Like all their products, Prada strives for a simple yet elegant design, that makes their brand unique among all others.
